Code's NFL Mock Draft: 2011

1. A.J. Green, WR, Georgia
The Panthers use the most sense of any other team in the league by playing it safe with the selection of a SURE THING at WR, instead of taking an at risk QB. Also lets face it this team is bad enough to have a good shot at drafting there ideal QB at the top of next year's draft.

2. Marcell Dareus, DT, Alabama
Last year Denver used two 1st round picks in order to solidify the WR and QB positions for the near future. This Year the focus shifts to their Defense, where by drafting Dareus they add a player capable of anchoring their front 3.

3. Patrick Peterson, CB, LSU
The Bills are doing their due-diligence by putting all of the top QB prospects under the microscope. But when all the facts are in I think they will realize they are better off with Fitzpatrick under center for the time being. As deficient as they are on the defensive side of the ball adding a ball hawk like Peterson will instantly give them a the presents that they have been sorely missing.

4. Cam Newton, QB, Auburn
Being the 1st QB off the board Newton better be prepared to earn those strips as he is projected to be the Bengals starting QB in week 1 (when ever that might be).

5. Von Miller, LB, Texas A&M
QB or Best Player Available? Thats a decision I think AZ will be flip-flopping on right up until they find themselves on the clock.

6. Julio Jones, WR, Alabama
If Cleveland EVER decides to take their QB problems serious they will first have to have substantial talent surrounding their chosen QB in order to make a proper evaluation. Jones would be the 1st Browns WR that would be able to start for all the other 31 teams since Braylon Edwards' one shining moment montage that was the 2007-08 NFL season.

7. Blaine Gabbert, QB, Missouri
Q:How Much longer can the Alex Smith Saga go on? A: Just long enough for Gabbert to understand what not to do as a QB. Although he really needs to sit out and watch for a year, I expect him to take over the reins Mid-season in San Fran.

8. Nick Fairley, DT, Auburn
While DT is not one of the Titans greatest needs, Jeff Fisher would be smart to take the most talented player on the board rather than reach for an unproven LB.

9. Robert Quinn, DE, North Carolina
Jerry Jones LOVES his athletes! Instead of helping out the often bruised and battered Tony Romo by giving him some much needed protection, The Boys quickly rush their draft card up to the podium to select Quinn (only because his knees are slightly better than Bowers').

10. Jake Locker, QB, Washington

From everything we have heard up to this point the Huskies QB is Coach Shanahan's guy. So until I hear otherwise I expect Jake to have a locker ready and waiting for him in Washington. I mean really, how can Washington NOT draft the QB from Washington? Its Brilliant!

11. Prince Amukamara, CB, Nebraska

Just as the Texan's offense made huge strides last season with the emergence of Foster, so too will their defense next year now that they have a Prince to lead them.

12. Mike Pouncey, OG/C, Florida

I was 99.9% ready to plug in Anthony Castonzo as the Vikings pick. However that was before it dawned on me that as of now Ryan Cook would be staring at OG if the season started today. And like any loyal Vikings fan would tell you, it is the state of Minnesota's #1 priority to make sure Cook doesn't line up for a single down. Also any QB under center for the Vikings will surly need the occasional supportive hug now & then.

13. Tyron Smith, OT, Southern Cal

After drafting a QB and a RB with 2 of their last 3 1st round picks, the Lions sure up the O-line with the selection of Smith. While I have Castonzo ranked as the better OT teams love drafting athletes with upside over proven products.

14. Corey Liuget, DT, Illinois

By now Rams rams should have gotten over the fact that Julio Jones was bound to be off the board by 14. Instead they should be smart enough to realize that the get a great value in a player who is not only one of the BPA (Best Player Available) but also plays a PSN (position of significant need).

15. Da'Quan Bowers, DE, Clemson

By all means if Pouncey is indeed of the board by the Dolphins pick, this becomes the most difficult pick to determine. Since nothing matches a need and because Miami doesn't have a 2nd round pick I anticipate them trading this pick. Bowers is simply BPA while also a MIR (major injury risk)

16. Ryan Kerrigan, DE, Purdue

After getting burned by an athletic project player like Harvey the Jags wise up and go after a player with strength and an extremely high motor.

17. Anthony Castonzo, OT, Boston College

With two picks in the 1st round the Pats would be smart to grab the best available tackle. Then wait till the 28th pick (as long as they don't trade it) to select a DE since this years Crop is ripe with DEs.

18. J.J. Watt, DE, Wisconsin

Being the hard worker he is Watt will bring some much needed energy to the Bolts D-line.

19. Nate Solder, OT, Colorado

If the Giants want to do any more than just tread water in the NFC then their offensive game will have to stay sharp. The best way to do that is to give Manning the time and space to make plays and Solder can do just that.
